What makes science reliable ?

As the usual class cannot take place at our high-school for the time being, twelfth-graders are kindly requested to watch carefully this video (that you can find on youtube too) on Tuesday the 9th of October 2018

A few advices :
Watch first the first five minutes (with or without English subtitles, it's up to you). Then make the valuable effort to listen once more the first part of the video (without watching!) and last watch it with subtitles up to the end.

Now you are ready to answer some questions:
-What is the reproducibility crisis?
-What are the evidences of it?
-What was wrong about the science of Aristotle? What was right?
-What was Galileo discovery?
-When, where and by whom was his experiment spectacularly replicated and his conclusion validated?
-What is the fundamental fall we as a society think about science?

The students from the European section are asked to record their oral answer to three questions at least out of the six ones from above.
(Specific instructions : Record all the answers in one shot, speak fluently as if you would make a personal commentary. A minimum of one minute and a maximum of three minutes for the recording is expected).

One more task : write for yourself the subtitles in any thirty second footage of the video and record your reading of the text playing attention to replicate the pronunciation in the video.

The students from the European section are supposed to send the two recordings by email at the known address.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon!
